Lord of the flies audio mp4 download

The story was very good. The recording sounded like it was done in a bathroom with an inexpensive microphone. I've read that this book is now required reading for High School students and since I've experienced this book for the first time, I can see its application.

The story is about a group of boys shipwrecked on an island who try to form their own society, and eventually fail miserably. They make careless mistakes in their environment and with each other that lead to this failure. The story is entertaining and offers many lessons in leadership, why laws are important and that we must all participate in a society or be doomed to savagery. A whole lot of boring talk just for some mild excitement toward the end, with an unsatisfactory end.

The reader sounded bored by his own story. The message of the story was interesting and the pig head part was the coolest, I suggest you read this on your own, not this audio made it hard to enjoy.

I read it in preparation as required reading for a course I'm going to teach. I'm glad to now know the story and to better understand what transpired on the island. It's not the kind of book I'd typically be drawn to but I get why it ended up in the canon. A great read, sad and funny. This reading suits perfectly the dramatic story that unfolds.

The pace at which the story is told does justice to the powerful atmosphere that Golding creates. I played the death scenes to class while they were studying it and it made the story all the most accessible to them. Golding shows through the behaviour of the children in the book what happens in a lawless society and how quickly it descends into anarchy.

Sadly I think this is a pretty accurate description of how mankind will behave and unfortunately the reactions of many people in our current Coronavirus situation, has done nothing to dissaude me of that! I really enjoyed this book it gripped me throughout. The reader was fantastic and there was very little that didnt add to the story.

I've always put off reading this, expecting it to be full of evil savagery Most of it Martin Jarvis was the perfect narrator. I just didn't like the sad bits but then I guess, that was kind of the whole point of the story I haven't read this for years although it's one that stays with you. As an adult revisiting it there's an added layer of nuance I think as you truly understand the last few lines. The reader was superb and I really enjoyed this. I died trying to finish this boring, drawn out book.

While I appreciate William Golding's efforts to use children as a shock factor in leveraging the idea of break down of humanity and social order. I just don't buy it. When we think of children, they represent innocence through their naivity and lack of experience, lack the knowledge and ability to think objectively and clearly.

To expect them to assume responsibility and understand order in a situation that they have not experienced or thought of is absurd and unbelievable.

Piggy, although fat, asthmatic and physically useless in terms of survival, is suppose to make up with it through his intelligence. Yet it was Ralph who used his glasses to create a fire, all while Piggy was in absolute distress that his glasses had been taken despite being explained for said purpose. Dialogue is a mess. Story is drawn out. Characters are dull as dishwater. I zoned out a LOT during this book, and skipped a chapter just to save prolonging the agony any further.

Martin Jarvis did a very good job here, bringing the characters to life. A pleasure to listen to. Read this when I was a kid.

It was good to read it again. The narration reminded me of old radio broadcasts. Still a great listen. This was a great audiobook. Loved the narration and the story. Very adventurous and I loved getting to know the various characters. I can see myself revisiting this book. I've never had this issue with any other book on audible but the constant stopping and starting made this impossible to listen to.

Read it in my childhood as a English literature book in school, loved it then and loved it now. The book somehow gives me an indescribable heavy feeling towards the human nature of mankind. One kid, a more seasoned kid barely shy of high school years, a kid with reasonable hair, expect authority to mix the others into some similarity of association and survival mode, much like grown-ups would do if grown-ups were available. He likewise observed a need to defuse the web of dread of the more youthful ones. Where are we?
